Receive Your Custom DIY Space Design With Just Five Steps

Build Your Design Profile
This is your first opportunity to share inspiration and goals for the project, as well as details about the locations existing conditions. Upload photos, measurements of your space and any inspiration that will help convey your vision.

Collaborate with Your Designer
Once you are matched with a designer, it's time to schedule a virtual consultation in your yard. Think of this as a video site visit where you walk them around, highlight trouble areas and dive deeper into your vision for the project.

Finalize Your DIY Project Plans
The design process will take 2-3 weeks. You will receive your project plan and have the opportunity to submit revisions. You plan will include detailed DIY instructions to get you started.

Source Your Project Materials
Work with Tilly's specialists to order the materials to complete your project. Materials will be sourced through our experts and can be shipped directly to your curb.

Your deliverable includes an aerial design with plant and hardscape layout, a detailed plant shopping list, inspiration images, an installation guide, and any add ons you chose (3D images or lighting plans). Our Design a DIY Space caters to individuals who are just looking to design a feature of their yard, but don't need an entire yard plan. At this time, Tilly's DIY projects include fire pits, walkways, patios and garden beds. You will receive an aerial design with your layout, a detailed shopping list, an installation guide and 3D renders, if you add them.
Yes, you will be matched with one of our professional landscape designers who is familiar with the plants and hardscape materials in your region. You'll have a 15 minute video call with your designer to show them your space and share your vision.
Tilly's Design Your DIY Space service is perfect for anyone who loves tackling a project, but would like custom advice and plans for their space. There's a lot of planning and details behind any yard project so having a master plan by a professional designer can save you money, time and many headaches.
Yes! We've compiled an incredible design team across the country so your custom project is executed by a landscape design professional with at least 3 years of residential design experience. The designer you are matched with will have on-hands experience in your region and understand the climate, plants and hardscape that work in your area. After all, designing in Maine is quite different than designing in Florida - and we do it all!
Your package will come with an installation guide that will give you guidance to install on your own. We'll share helpful materials and resources so you don't have to waste hours researching.
Tilly has partnerships with nurseries and growers across the country. We prefer to source as local as possible to complete each design project. Because of that, while we design in all 50 states + Canada, we are sourcing materials for the DIY Garden Beds only in the following states: CA, CT, DC, DE, GA, IL, IN, IA, KY, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, SC, TN, VT, WI, WV.
When you start with Tilly we have an in depth questionnaire about your project, which includes details around your soil, sun, pests as well as personal likes, dislikes and style preferences. That, combined with photos of your yard/space, a property survey (not necessary for Design Your DIY Space) and a video call with your designer - allows us to confidently create a custom plan for you!
One round of revisions is included in each design package within 45 days of receiving your initial plan. If additional changes are needed they can be done for a fee, which will depend on the scope of work required. Note that needing a second round of revisions is extremely rare! With DIY Spaces we do not offer a round of revisions.
